At the end of July 2005, the Stade de Suisse, formerly the Wankdorf Stadium, was reopened in Bern. This is the most modern of all swiss stadiums (construction costs of c. 350 Mio. Franks, 225 Mio. Euros) and is on a par with the most progressive sports facilities in the world. This new 'arena' with a seating capacity of 32,000 is not only for sporting events but also for cultural, economic and shopping purposes. It is additionally the site of apartments and a large multi-storey car park. Seen from a sporting point of view, the playing field is of course the centre of attraction. And because these events usually take place during the evenings, the lighting installation is of vital importance. The lighting must ensure that cameras can transmit the action as close to reality as possible into the living rooms of private homes and make sure that spectators within the stadium can clearly see movement on the playing field. TRILUX has developed, made available and installed suitable lighting solutions for all deployment sectors.
