Experimental OP Tübingen

At the Universitätsklinikum Tübingen arises, as an Europe-wide unique project, an Experimental-OR. The target is the development of an operating-theatre of the future regarding workflows, spatial planning and hardware.

Who does not remember the stinted equipped OT-rooms in old movies: Even the operating-theatre in the TV series: "Emergency Room" is almost an old hat. This shows clearly that operating-theatres are defeated by the fast development. The today`s operating-theatre, as it is standard in many hospitals, is submitted due to the current development of the medical units, the instruments, the innovative operation methods and the OR-employee`s work techniques. And it is one of the most cost intensive areas in the hospital.
